Pay it forward…you just might be surprised
So this sort of goes along with my other blog, my mother for life site. I was nominated there for the lemonade award. Someone thought to uplift me in my own hard time, and I passed it along. It got me to thinking, I have a challenge for all of you in 2009. I am going to find a way to help 3 people this year in one way or another. As I help them, I will give the same challenge to them. I am not talking in a monetary way, because as we all know, the economy is a killer right now.
There are other things we can do though, I just have to think on mine some more. So I challenge you fellow bloggers out there with the same thing. See if you can find just 3 people, whether it’s family or a perfect stranger. Then ask them to do the same. Perhaps if we can start spreading this goodness, life won’t seem so grey at times.
I will keep a running list. I won’t use names if asked, but I will share the good deeds or thoughts. Who knows, maybe the blogging world can start a whole new peace.
Other than that, I hope every one of you has a desirable 2009, I know for me I have decided this is my year.
Just to help you along, here are some random acts of kindness, just ideas mind you, not set in stone ways.
Help a stranded motorist~ However, be smart about this one. Daylight saving help only please, I don’t want anyone in a dangerous situation.
Extra tip for that overworked waitress~I’ve been there, its not always easy. Sometimes that extra ten dollars meant the difference between gas money and food.
Donate instead of garage sale~Have some extra furniture? Call your local shelters, they may have a family in need.
Shovel, sweep, mow~Notice that the elderly neighbor’s grandson hasn’t been by lately? Perhaps help them out with a little bit of yard work.
Call your church~I know the churches in my town keep a running list of families in need at all times, not just Christmas. See if perhaps you have something they need, or can help with.
Smile at a stranger, say hello~ Sometimes it’s the littlest things that lift a person up
So keep me updated, whether you helped someone, or someone did something nice for you, I’m interested. Have a great year guys and gals.
Great post! I especially liked the random act of kindness list. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own problems that we forget how easy it is to just be kind to one another.
